An outstanding new hostile vehicle mitigation system (HVM) – KarabloK – will be globally launched at World of Concrete in February 2016 by RSG Structures Ltd.

7.5Tonne truck hitting a KarabloK wallThe modular system is designed to provide a permanent or semi-permanent security wall around sensitive locations where hostile threats may be anticipated.

It uses precast concrete units locked together with a unique coupling system to form a crash-proof barrier. Units can be mounted on top of each other to form a wall up to six metres high (five units). It is quick to deploy as it doesn’t need foundations or any ground-fixing and is easily removed by cranes and then transported by trucks to be reused elsewhere.

KarabloK has been tested and certified to the following standards* as a hostile vehicle mitigation system:

  • IWA14-1:2013 Barrier V/7200[N2A]/64/90:0.4
  •  IWA14-1:2013 Barrier V/7200[N3C]/80/90:1.1

You can see video footage here of the HVM tests on RSG Structures’ YouTube channel.

RSG Structures director Gareth Neale said: “KarabloK is designed for use as a highly effective security barrier around sensitive locations where hostile threats may be anticipated.

“It is not only a very effective hostile vehicle mitigation system but it also withstands large blast loads, multiple strikes in 30mm HE Cannon round attack and fragmentation protection from both medium-sized indirect fire (IDF) munitions and RPG shaped charge rounds.

“The durability of KarabloK in the face of attack, combined with its movability, probably makes it unparalleled in this field.

“Beyond all these tests, however, it is also designed to look good which is an important consideration in certain scenarios, such as protecting hotels against attack while they are hosting international summit meetings.

“We’re launching this ground-breaking new product at World of Concrete trade show in Las Vegas from February 2-5.

“As well as direct sales, we are also looking for commercial partners for KarabloK at all levels, including manufacturing and sales, in North America, Australia, Europe and Eurasia where we have patents pending.

“We look forward to meeting potential customers and partners at World of Concrete in Booth N1069 but anyone wishing to contact us in advance can reach us through the our website (rsgstructures.co.uk) or call us at our UK offices on 00 +44 (0) 8452 997 597.”
